An elopement or elopement wedding is a more intimate affair than a traditional wedding. It usually consists of just the couple, their officiant, and their photographer (who can act as a witness), or sometimes the couple may invite a few of their closest family and friends to their elopement.
Often, people associate an elopement with a spur-of-the-moment decision to help save money and escape any drama a wedding may create. More and more that is not the case.
